Role Overview
The National Youth Helpline (NYHL) is seeking a qualified female Pashto-speaking counselor to provide confidential, client-centered telephonic support to young people. The role focuses on addressing a wide range of concerns including psychosocial issues, reproductive health, academic stress, family conflicts, substance use, gender-based violence (GBV), and other youth-related challenges, with a particular emphasis on outreach to Pashto-speaking populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver empathetic, non-judgmental telephonic counseling in Pashto and Urdu (English proficiency will be an added advantage)
- Conduct initial psychosocial assessments and provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) where required
- Identify and manage high-risk cases, ensuring timely referrals to relevant services
- Maintain accurate, confidential case records in line with ethical and organizational standards
- Support NYHL outreach by participating in awareness sessions, trainings, and capacity-building activities
- Ensure culturally sensitive communication to effectively engage Pashto-speaking clients
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Master’s degree (16 years of education) in Psychology (Clinical Psychology / M.Phil. / Clinical Diploma preferred)
- At least 2 years of relevant counseling experience, preferably in telephonic or online settings
- Fluency in Pashto and Urdu and English is mandatory
- Strong communication, active listening, empathy, and crisis intervention skills
- Ability to handle sensitive cases with professionalism and confidentiality
