A National Level NGO engaged in Live Stock, advocacy, campaigning, community mobilization, research, networking, challenging anti poor policies, plans and actions at local, national and international level with different coalitions. Since its inception, covered at least 22 districts of Balochistan and has worked to ensure a peaceful and secure environment within communities. The main Goal is to eliminate poverty and violence from society by means of encouraging human rights and civic education culture.

Job Overview/Summary. 

The Livestock Specialist will provide technical expertise to improve livestock health, productivity, and farmer livelihoods. The role includes supporting planning and implementation of livestock interventions such as vaccination, disease control, and feed/fodder management, while ensuring effective delivery of Farmer Field School (FFS) livestock modules.

The specialist will build the capacity of field facilitators and farmers on improved livestock practices, conduct field assessments, and provide technical backstopping to ensure quality implementation. He/She will also support disease surveillance and reporting in coordination with relevant government departments, ensure compliance with project and donor standards, and contribute to data collection, documentation, and reporting of livestock-related activities and outcomes.

Major Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

Technical Design & Implementation

  • Support planning and implementation of livestock interventions at field level. 

  • Provide technical input on small ruminants, fodder management, and animal health. 

  • Ensure integration of climate-smart and sustainable livestock practices. 

Capacity Building

  • Design and deliver technical trainings for FFS facilitators and farmers. 

  • Develop training materials and technical guidelines for livestock management. 

  • Strengthen knowledge and skills of field teams through coaching and mentoring. 

Community Outreach & Support

  • Support implementation of community-based livestock improvement activities. 

  • Promote best practices in animal breeding, feeding, and disease prevention. 

  • Engage with farmers to ensure adoption of improved techniques. 

Monitoring & Quality Assurance

  • Monitor field activities to ensure technical quality and standards. 

  • Conduct field visits and provide feedback to facilitators and teams. 

  • Support evaluation of project outcomes related to livestock productivity. 

Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with government livestock departments and relevant stakeholders. 

  • Support partnerships with NGOs, INGOs, and community organizations. 

  • Contribute to technical discussions and planning processes. 

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare technical reports and progress updates. 

  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories. 

  • Support data collection and analysis related to livestock interventions.


Supervisory Responsibility: 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures. 

  • Support overall project operations as required. 

  • Participate in trainings and capacity-building activities. 

  • Perform any other task assigned by the supervisor.


Supervisory Role: 

  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to FFS Facilitators and Community Mobilizers.

  • Ensure proper implementation of livestock-related activities in accordance with project plans and technical standards.

  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits to assess performance, identify gaps, and provide on-site support.

  • Oversee the delivery of Farmer Field School (FFS) sessions related to livestock and ensure quality learning outcomes.

  • Monitor animal health interventions (vaccination, treatment, deworming) for effectiveness and compliance with protocols.

  • Review and validate field reports, data collection tools, and activity records submitted by field teams.

  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentorship to field staff to enhance their technical capacity.

  • Ensure timely achievement of targets and indicators related to livestock activities.

  • Ensure efficient use of resources, including medicines, vaccines, and equipment.

  • Report progress, challenges, and recommendations to the Regional Manager.

Job Specification:

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s (PhD preferred) in Livestock, Animal Breeding, Food Tech, NRM, or related field 

  • 5+ years’ experience in livestock community outreach and program implementation 

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong expertise in climate adaptation, breeding, fodder management, and food safety 

  • Experience in training, capacity building, and participatory approaches (FFS/community models) 

  • Solid knowledge of livestock systems, rangeland management, and value chains 

  • Experience in disease surveillance and One Health approaches 

  • Proven ability to design and adapt FFS curricula and integrated livestock programs 

  • Familiarity with Balochistan context (preferred)


Language Skills:  

  • Fluent, professional level speaking, reading and writing in English Urdu and Pashto
