Job Description:

An international faith-based development and humanitarian organization intends to commission a video documentary. The key focus of the assignment will be to capture how combination of interventions helped achieve the following pathways under two grants:

-      Strengthening rights holders’ ability for collective action for the fulfilment of human rights 

-      Influencing duty bearers to fulfil human rights

-      Securing and fulfilling rights holders’ basic human rights in target areas

-      Strengthening the capacities of civil society organisations

 

The assignment's purpose is to capture projects' contribution to the impact as defined in the projects' designs. The documentaries should be provided in the form of testimonials, footage and data. These should establish how the projects’ made a different to lives of the rights holders, and why the projects’ contribution would be valuable in the years to come. It should help viewers grasp the projects as stories that have touched lives and left an enduring positive impact.

The documentary will be confined to capturing the practical work conducted in mobilizing faith actors to take joint action for climate resilience, improving access to drinking water & sanitation facilities, promote social cohesion, prevent conflicts, influencing duty bearers and strengthening civil society to fulfill human rights. The assignment also includes short interviews of the projects’ participants, illustration/animation for the statistics, and short interviews of the selected country office and local implementing partner’s personnel.

Quality standards, principles, and ethical consideration

The service provider/ consultant shall respect the contracting organization’s policies and guidelines such as Do no Harm, Information Security, and ethical guidelines for the video documentary. Data and information collected during the assignment will be used for the purpose of the assignment only and handed over to the contracting organization on completion of the assignment. Key aspects of the quality assurance regime that the consultant is required to provide in the proposal are:

-      Overall quality control

-      Data quality assurance

-      Data storage, retrieval, and analysis

-      Privacy /sensitive information protection and confidentiality protocols

The duration of the review will be approximately 75 days after the signing of the contract. The timeframe for deliverables is outlined in the table below.

2.   Team Composition and Requirement

The consultant/consulting firm must provide a minimum of the following personnel for this assignment.

 

Core team:

  • Full-time Team Lead
  • Full-time videographer
  • Scriptwriter
  • Photographer

 

Field Team:

Although the consultant/ consulting firm will determine the composition and number of personnel in field team(s). However, the field team must have representation of both genders, and at least one supervisor for each team.

The consultant/consulting firm must clearly mention the key roles and responsibilities of each member of core team and field team based on the skills and experience required for this assignment as outlined below.

Technical Understanding

-          Advanced degree in a relevant discipline such as mass communication, development communication, audio/video production, animation, graphic designing, etc.

-          Sound understanding of integrated social development interventions.

-          Excellent Communication skills, written and oral, including in cross-cultural contexts (i.e. Mirpurkhas, Sanghar & Umerkot, Sindh, Peshawar and Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Faisalabad, Lahore, Punjab).

-          Understanding of local languages particularly Sindhi language

Experience

 

-      Minimum ten years of experience in videography preferably with INGOs/UN agencies

-      Hands-on experience for working in diverse cultural context of Pakistan.

-      Experience in storytelling, content development, and voiceover.

-      The consultant/consultant firm must have state-of-the-art equipment and technology.

-      Expertise with high 4k equipment, drone cameras and video editing software.

-       Able to respond to short deadlines.

A) Roles and Responsibilities of the Contracting Organization

 

-      Brief and orient stakeholders about the purpose of the assignment

-      Review and feedback on the inception report.

-      Review and approve the draft documentary.

-      Facilitate in establishing contact with the implementing partner and other concerned stakeholders in the project intervention area.

-      Provide necessary support to the consultant to ensure timely completion of the assignment.

-      Prepare and disburse payments for the consultant upon completion of the deliverables of the assignment.

 

B) Partner’s Roles and Responsibilities

-      Participate in the orientation and briefings with the consultant on this assignment

-      Identify and facilitate interviews with relevant projects’ participants and stakeholders for this assignment.

-      Facilitate the consultant during his/her field visits for the purpose of this assignment.

 

C) Consultant’s Roles and Responsibilities

-      Accomplishment of the deliverables as mentioned in the TORs.

-      Hold an inception meeting with the Programme team.

-      Develop story board/ script for the assignment.

-      Submit an inception report to specify the timelines for the field work, development and submission of draft video documentary.

-      Establish contacts with all the relevant stakeholders in target communities/districts identified by the contracting organization and its partners.

-      Field visits to project sights for video capturing/shooting; interview with partner organization/selected CO personnel, selected participants project’s interventions including participants of the training, groups, etc., and other relevant stakeholders in accordance with agreed plan.

-      Submission of the draft video product and finalize it based on the feedback from CO focal personnel.

-      Submission of source file, consent forms and raw footage.

-      Responsible for the expenses of accommodation, lodging, refreshment, and mobility of his/her team engaged during this assignment.

 

Intellectual Property

All information and production of the documentary pertaining to the assignment as well as outputs produced under duration of contract shall remain the property of our organization who shall have exclusive rights over their use. The product shall not be disclosed to the public nor used in whatever format without written permission of the commissioning authority in line with the national and International Copyright Laws applicable. Commissioning authority owns the rights of all material used to create the video and can re-use the arts files as needed. Acquire consent from people featuring in the video/ photos and maintain dignity of people. Media material to be delivered should not be used or reused without the commissioning authority written consent.

11.      Budget and Schedule of Payment

-      The detailed budget, terms and conditions for the applicant will be separately spelt out in the respective contract.

-      The payments will be made in instalments as articulated in the contract between the parties.
