Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) is the premier apex institution dedicated to lifting the poor out of poverty through community-driven development across Pakistan. Established in February 1997 as a not-for-profit company under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984 (now Companies Act 2017), PPAF’s mission is to transform the lives of the impoverished, fostering a more equitable and prosperous Pakistan.

PPAF receives funding from the Government of Pakistan, and prominent international donors, and also utilizes its own resources to design and implement projects and initiatives that focus on climate-resilient infrastructure, green growth and energy, health, education, livelihoods, financial inclusion, and disaster resilience at the grassroots level. These interventions are implemented through PPAF's network of partner civil society organisations.

 Background

The Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) is committed to enhancing the skills and competencies of its staff to drive effective leadership within the organization. In line with this commitment, a one-day Leadership Training Course is proposed for managers and specialists. This training aims to develop critical leadership skills for managing teams, driving strategic initiatives, and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.

Besides this, effective presentation skills are crucial for officers and coordinators to communicate ideas, share knowledge, and influence stakeholders. Therefore, a two-day training course on effective presentation skills is proposed for the officers and coordinators. This training aims to equip participants with practical skills to deliver impactful presentations. The session will also provide an opportunity to practice these skills through real-time feedback during a run-through of their prepared presentations.

 

Training Objective / Learning Objective

The primary objectives of this leadership training are to:

  • Equip managers and specialists with leadership skills that enhance decision-making and strategic thinking.
  • Strengthen team management skills to improve overall organizational performance.
  • Foster a leadership culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Develop skills in conflict resolution, problem-solving, and change management.
  • Enhance emotional intelligence to enable effective team engagement and motivation.

While the objectives of this “ Presentation Skills” training are to:

 

  • Enhance the presentation skills of officers and coordinators by focusing on preparation.
  • Enhance delivery techniques, audience engagement, and feedback, followed by a practical application.
  • Principles of effective presentations
  • Structuring content for clarity and impact
  • Engaging and managing the audience
  • Overcoming stage fright and building confidence

 Scope of Work

The training provider will be responsible for designing and delivering comprehensive training programs tailored to the needs of PPAF staff on Leadership and Presentation Skills.

The scope of work includes:

 

  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs tailored to the leadership needs of PPAF managers and specialists while Presentation skills programmes for officers and coordinators.
  • Develop training content/material that includes practical exercises, case studies, and interactive sessions focusing on leadership challenges in the development sector.
  • This includes topics such as structuring a presentation, effective use of visual aids, verbal and non-verbal communication, and managing audience interactions considering the needs of the officers and coordinators.
  • Facilitate group activities, discussions, and role-plays to encourage active learning and knowledge sharing.
  • To award certificates to participants.
  • To provide PPAF with a detailed training report.

Deliverables

  • Training Design Module
  • Conduct Training Events for staff as per PPAF needs.
  • Training Report
  • PowerPoint presentations for all topics in English.
  • Share with HR one complete set of materials including PowerPoint presentations before the training.
  • Within 7 days after completion of the course, the consultant will submit the  report in hard and electronic copies (Microsoft Word and Excel) to the PPAF – HR unit.  All materials and data collected and/or produced during the training period are the property of PPAF and can only be copied and reproduced with PPAF permission.
  • Evaluation of the participants based on their contribution, participation, and key learnings & feedback of trainees to the course.

 

Clients (PPAF’s) Responsibility

PPAF shall provide the following assistance/ information to the consultant.

  • Provide all necessary input and documents to the consultant to help him/her in profiling the participants.
  • The course will be conducted on PPAF’s premises/or maybe in any other available hotel in the vicinity.
  • The trainer will be provided with travel reimbursement and lodging if any.

Duration & No. of Events and Expected Number of Participants – Leadership Skills

There will be two training events on Leadership Skills. The duration of each training event will be no longer than one day. The expected number of participants for this course may be 25 -34 with an anticipation of 17 participants on each course

Target Group for the Leadership Course: 

The target audience for the Leadership  Training Course could include the managers and specialists from various sections of PPAF.

Duration & No. of Events and Expected Number of Participants – Presentation Skills

There will be three training events on Presentation Skills. The duration of each training event will be no longer than two days. The expected number of participants for this course may be 59 with an anticipation of 25 participants on each course.

Target Group for the Presentation Skills Course: 

The target audience for this course could include the Associates, Officers and Coordinators from various sections and projects of PPAF.

Training Design & Methodology:

These training courses will be a blend of both practical and theoretical sessions including interactive lectures, demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and group work and discussions.

  • Powerpoint presentations: Brainstorming sessions and Group discussions will be included.
  • Practical exercises and real-world scenarios will be used to reinforce learning and facilitate practical application.
  • Participants will receive training materials, including handouts, and exercises to support their learning during and after the course.

The training program will cover, but not be limited to the following topics

1. Leadership Styles and Theories - Understanding different leadership approaches and their application in various scenarios.

2. Effective Communication and Team Building - Techniques for improving communication, building trust, and motivating teams.

3. Strategic Decision-Making - Tools and strategies for making informed and impactful decisions.

4. Conflict Resolution and Negotiation - Methods for managing conflicts and leading successful negotiations.

5. Change Management - Leading and managing organizational change effectively.

6. Emotional Intelligence- Enhancing self-awareness, empathy, and relationship management skills for better leadership.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • The trainer must have a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in organizing/ delivering training on leadership and soft skills for national and international development & corporate sector organizations.
  • The trainer must have experience in delivering leadership and soft skills training for managerial-level staff.
  • Expertise in team management, and organizational development.
  • The trainer must hold 16 years of education in any discipline.
  • Strong facilitation skills and experience in delivering interactive and engaging training sessions

Time Duration

The assignment is expected to be completed within four (4) months from the date of signing of the contract i.e. during the period February 2025– May 2025.
