Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive MEAL system, providing technical support to partner CSOs in establishing their own MEAL processes, to generate quality data that strengthens project monitoring, evaluation, accountability, learning, and advocacy efforts, ultimately contributing to enhanced CSO capacity and improved nutrition outcomes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive MEAL system for the project, including a MEAL plan, data collection tools, indicators, and reporting templates aligned with project objectives and donor requirements. This system should effectively track CSO capacity building progress, project outputs, outcomes, and impact on malnutrition.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to the 15 partner CSOs on MEAL concepts, data collection methodologies, data analysis, and reporting. Focus on building their capacity to monitor their own activities and contribute to the overall project MEAL data. This includes developing their own MEAL plans and tools.
  • Oversee the collection, entry, cleaning, and analysis of data related to project activities, including CSO capacity building efforts, service delivery, and community-level nutrition indicators. Ensure data quality and accuracy, and establish robust data management systems.
  • Regularly monitor project activities against the work plan and targets, including CSO performance and progress in addressing malnutrition. Identify any bottlenecks or challenges and recommend corrective actions. This includes regular field visits to project sites.
  • Lead the design and implementation of project evaluations (mid-term and end-line), including developing evaluation methodologies, data collection tools, and conducting data analysis. Ensure evaluations are conducted in a participatory and timely manner.
  • Prepare timely and high-quality reports on project progress, including MEAL findings, for internal and external stakeholders (e.g., donors, government agencies). Disseminate key findings and lessons learned to inform project implementation and future programming.
  • Establish and implement accountability mechanisms to ensure transparency and responsiveness to community feedback. This includes developing feedback mechanisms, grievance procedures, and ensuring that community voices are heard and considered in project decision-making.
  • Facilitate learning from project implementation and evaluation findings. Promote the use of data and evidence to inform project adaptations and improvements. Document best practices and lessons learned for wider dissemination.
  • Contribute to the project's advocacy efforts by providing data and evidence on the nutrition situation, project impact, and best practices. Support the SPO in developing advocacy materials and engaging with policymakers.
  • Develop and manage the MEAL budget, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources for MEAL activities. Procure necessary MEAL equipment and supplies.
