Position Title:                   Project Coordinator – Flood Response
Location:                          Malakand / Field Offices in Flood-Affected Areas
Reports to:                       Head of Programs (HoP)
Contract Type:                  Project-based (3 months, renewable subject to funding and performance)

Job Purpose

The Project Coordinator will lead FAID’s flood emergency response in Malakand and the surrounding districts. Working under the guidance of the Head of Programmes, the Coordinator will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and implementation of field-level activities. This includes coordination with government authorities, humanitarian partners, and community stakeholders; leading assessments; planning and monitoring project activities; ensuring timely delivery of services; and supporting the inclusion of older people, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups in humanitarian response.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Management & Coordination

  • Lead and coordinate FAID’s overall flood emergency response at the field level.
  • Ensure effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities in line with project objectives and donor requirements.
  • Represent FAID in humanitarian coordination mechanisms led by PDMA/DDMA, supported by HAT/UNOCHA, and provide regular updates to the Islamabad office.
  • Serve as the focal person for project-related communication and coordination at provincial and district levels.
  • Support advocacy efforts to ensure the inclusion of older people and other marginalized groups in humanitarian response and preparedness.

Team Leadership & Field Implementation

  • Supervise and guide the field team in conducting needs assessments, data collection, and community engagement.
  • Ensure quality and accountability in the implementation of humanitarian preparedness and response activities.
  • Facilitate community involvement in programme design, monitoring, and complaint response mechanisms.
  • Support the Communications Department by documenting lessons learned, success stories, and visual evidence (photos/videos).

Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare high-quality progress reports, situation updates, and donor reports on time.
  • Ensure compliance with FAID and donor policies, including procurement, finance, and programme quality standards.
  • Maintain proper project documentation and ensure accurate data management for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

Safeguarding & Accountability

  • Ensure that all programme activities are designed and implemented in a way that prevents harm and protects communities.
  • Promptly report any safeguarding concerns or incidents using FAID’s internal reporting mechanisms.
  • Complete mandatory safeguarding and protection trainings and comply with HR vetting requirements.
  • Support survivor-centered safeguarding approaches, including appropriate referrals and complaint handling.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Disaster Risk Management, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–4 years of relevant experience in project coordination or field management within humanitarian or development organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in emergency response, preferably in flood or natural disaster contexts.
  • Experience with inclusion-related projects (older people, persons with disabilities, gender) is a strong asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills with ability to network effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management).
  • Excellent report writing and spoken communication skills in English and Urdu; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently to field locations.
